Some showers and t-storms at times

It was a pleasant Saturday in the Twin Cities and much of southern Minnesota, with temps popping into the 70s.

It was cooler elsewhere, with 60s over central Minnesota and mostly 50s over the north.  Some spots in far northern Minnesota stayed in the 40s.

Thunderstorms possible

An approaching low pressure system will spread some showers and thunderstorms across Minnesota Sunday and Sunday night:

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service indicates a slight risk of severe thunderstorms Sunday and Sunday night from western Iowa southward:

Much of the Twin Cities metro area and southern Minnesota are included in a marginal risk area for severe weather.

The Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service posted the following timeline:

The best chance of a strong or severe thunderstorm in the Twin Cities would be between 6 pm and 9 pm Sunday, but scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible during the morning and afternoon hours.  Southwestern Minnesota could see scattered strong to severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.

Showers, and possibly some thunderstorms, will linger into Monday.  Wednesday and Thursday look wet.  Highs this coming week will be in the cool 50s:

Our typical high this time of year in the Twin Cities would be in the lower 60s.
