Scattered showers today, dry Friday

We've received some welcome rain over Minnesota and Wisconsin the past 48 hours!

Occasional scattered showers will continue today as a low pressure system over Iowa spins slowly eastward.

Temps will rise into the 60s over southern Minnesota today, with 50s over northern Minnesota:

Lows in the 30s will be common over Minnesota and western Wisconsin tomorrow morning, but the downtown areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul might only cool to 40.

The official temperature that you see or hear in the media is measured 2 meters (about 6 and a half feet) above the ground. When there is little or no wind, we can have frost at ground level even if the official temperature at 2 meters is in the mid or upper 30s.

Warm, then wet, this weekend

Southerly winds will increase our humidity on Saturday, and we'll see high temps rise into the 70s over southern and central Minnesota:
