As MPR News chief meteorologist Paul Huttner stated Wednesday evening, it was indeed an "oddball snowstorm." A  foot of snow fell in parts of Scott and Dakota counties, very little snow in the north metro.

A perfect Twin Cities metro area forecast would have said something like: "zero to 12 inches of snow in the Twin Cities, with highest totals in the south metro." Any meteorologist giving a forecast like that might have been driven out of town!

Here are updated storm snowfall totals from the Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service:

Snowfall totals from southeastern Minnesota included 11 inches in Wabasha and 10.5 inches in Rochester.

Normal temps 

The snow is moving on, and we will see some sunshine develop today. Highs will be just slightly below normal for much of Minnesota. The exception would be from the south metro through southeastern Minnesota, where deep snow cover may limit highs to the upper 30s.

You can expect plenty of sunshine on Sunday, with afternoon highs mainly in the 40s:

Anyone going to a sunrise service on Easter Sunday can expect early morning temps in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

European forecast model vs GFS
