Near record warmth Saturday, some Sunday showers

It was a great day to be outdoors!

St. Cloud set a new record high temperature today at 62 degrees. In the Twin Cities, we tied our record high when the temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport hit 66 degrees at 6 pm.

Saturday will be another warm day over Minnesota and Wisconsin:

Our record high on Saturday sits at 69 degrees, and with plenty of sunshine and southerly breezes we could approach that mark.

A low pressure system spreads clouds and occasional showers over much of Minnesota and Wisconsin for Saturday night and Sunday:

Highs will be cooler on Sunday, but still in the 50s and well above normal. Temperatures stay quite a bit above normal through Tuesday, then highs cool into the 40s for Wednesday and Thursday:

Rainshowers are expected at times on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we could see a mix of rain showers and snow showers late Wednesday into Thursday.

The GFS forecast model shows a strong low pressure system over Lake Superior late Wednesday:

The low will pull in plenty of cold air from the north, giving us that chance of flakes in the metro area late Wednesday into Thursday. Northeastern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin could see some accumulating snow.

Of course, that is several days away. The forecast models may very well change as we get closer to Wednesday.

I hope that you have a great weekend!
