Minnesota's House is back to full strength and the Republican majority is one seat stronger.

Rep. Chad Anderson of Bloomington took his oath Wednesday after a surprising special election victory last week. Democrats had long held the suburban seat, which came open with the resignation of Rep. Ann Lenczewski.

It leaves the party split in the House at 73-61.

Anderson, a realtor, is new to the Legislature but has a built-in mentor. His father-in-law, GOP Sen. Dan Hall of Burnsville, beamed as Anderson was sworn in.

For now, Anderson is assured only a single session and 10 months in office. His seat and all 200 other legislative seats are on November's ballot.
