The University of Minnesota's underground lab at the old Soudan Mine site in northern Minnesota is facing an uncertain future.
Physicists have used the space for more than three decades while trying to answer long-standing questions around the structure of the universe.
But there are now newer — and in some cases deeper — labs in other places that better serve scientists.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Marvin Marshak, a professor at the U and the lab's director.
