Some areas of southern Minnesota will see whiteout conditions at times from Tuesday into early Wednesday. In the Twin Cities area, we expect snow to develop during the morning hours, then become heavier with increasing winds Tuesday afternoon and evening.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the Twin Cities, southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin from 9 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Snowfall totals in the Twin Cities could range from 4 to 6 inches in the far northwest corner of the metro to 8 to 11 inches in the southeast metro by the time the snow tapers off on Wednesday morning.
A blizzard warning has been issued for south-central Minnesota from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Southwestern Minnesota has a blizzard warning in effect from 3 a.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday. Winds gusting over 35 mph, heavy snow and severely reduced visibility are expected in the blizzard warning areas.
