Good morning. It's the first work week of the new year, and it's an election year. I'm a little groggy after staying up to watch the Vikings almost give the game away in the fourth quarter. But their win gives us all the more reason to take a look at the news.

1. Bernie Sanders' campaign team has staffed up in Iowa and thinks their candidate can win the caucuses, which are now less than a month away. (New York Times)

2. Donald Trump has released his first TV ad of the campaign. (Washington Post)

3. The state is saving money because heath care expenses are lower than expected. (Pioneer Press)

4. A number of talented, experienced women have announced they will not seek to return to the Minnesota Senate this year. (Star Tribune)

5. What's the difference between "armed anti-government activists" and terrorists? I don't know, but a bunch of them have occupied a federal building in Oregon. (NBC News)
