The new superintendent of Minneapolis Public Schools will face a host of challenges including one of the worst achievement gaps in the country between white students and students of color.
The school board Monday night chose Sergio Paez as their pick to lead the district. He has most recently been superintendent of the Holyoke Public Schools in Massachusetts.
He's expected to take over in Minneapolis from current interim superintendent Michael Goar in July.
He joined MPR's Tom Weber on Tuesday to discuss his goals. He was joined by School Board chair Jenny Arneson.
