The New Standards, a Minneapolis-based jazz trio, rings in the holidays every year with new spins on old favorites.
The band joined MPR News host Tom Weber to play five of their reimagined melodies. The group is filled with familiar faces for music fans: Chan Poling, of The Suburbs, plays piano; John Munson, from Trip Shakespeare and Semisonic, plays bass; and Steve Roehm, who plays with Neighborhood Trio and the Twilight Hours, is on percussion.
The band also discussed the benefits of living and working as a musician in Minnesota.
