Gov. Mark Dayton's proposal for a special legislative session is gaining traction this week. Dayton wants legislative action to extend unemployment benefits for hundreds of idled steelworkers in northeastern Minnesota.

He has the backing of Senate Democrats but House Republicans have not yet agreed.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with DFL Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk of Cook about a possible special session.

Bakk says even more bad news is on the way. Another plant is closing.
