Today's Morning Edition music is from two bands.
First up is The Monkees with "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone."
It's one of the songs that the Sex Pistols covered during their first live performance 40 years ago Friday.
The show took place at Saint Martins College in London. The Pistols didn't have their own amps or drum kit at the time so they borrowed them from the band they were opening for, Bazooka Joe.
After playing a handful of covers, the power was cut because the Sex Pistols were wrecking the equipment. The two bands ended up brawling on stage.
It was a fitting beginning for one of the most notorious punk bands of all time.
