A 5-year-old boy is dead after a car struck him while he was trick-or-treating Halloween night in north Minneapolis.
The crash happened after 9 p.m. Saturday at Knox Avenue North and Victory Memorial Drive.
Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder said the boy was hit as he tried to cross the parkway.
"The child at the point prior to officers' arrival had been pinned under the vehicle," Elder said. "He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center by ambulance where he later died of his injuries."
Elder says adults were with the boy at the time. Investigators say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, and the driver is cooperating with police.
The boy will be identified later by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
