Big organizations have been making big news in recent weeks with new health warnings and revised screening recommendations.
Yesterday, the World Health Organization threw its global weight behind years of experts' warnings and declared that processed meats raise the risk of colon and stomach cancer and that red meat is probably harmful, too.
Meanwhile, the American Cancer Society has updated it's breast cancer screening guidelines with some significant changes that align more closely with the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force. Women with an average risk of breast cancer can wait until 45 to start mammograms and then get them once a year.
Dr. Jon Hallberg spoke with MPR News' Steven John about his perspective on the new warnings and recommendations.
