Another Republican who was considering running for Congress in Minnesota’s 2nd District has opted out.
Mary Pawlenty said Tuesday she will not be a candidate.
Pawlenty, the former district court judge and wife of former Gov. Tim Pawlenty, said in a news release that she deeply appreciated the encouragement she received from people urging her to run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. John Kline.

“Each of us can and should serve our communities in the best way we know how, and at this phase of my life my preference is to stay focused on helping people find workable and agreeable solutions to their differences," Pawlenty said.
Pawlenty mediates civil matters for Eden Prairie-based Gilbert Mediation. She previously worked as a district court judge in the First Judicial District.
Former GOP Senate candidate Mike McFadden also took his name out of consideration this week.
David Gerson is the only announced Republican candidate in the race. Angie Craig and Mary Lawrence are running as Democrats.
