Hennepin County Commissioner and 2014 GOP gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson is chairing Rubio’s Minnesota campaign. Johnson is listed as a host for the fundraiser, along with Andrew Brehm and Nicholas Conant.
Results of a new national poll from Public Policy Polling shows Rubio running fifth among Republican presidential hopefuls with 5 percent.
Johnson said he convinced Rubio to also hold a brief private meeting at the Minneapolis Club with state legislators and local party officials.
“Whether they’re committed to him or not or even if they’re supporting a different Republican, we’ll welcome them to come just to hear him talk and maybe ask him a few questions,” Johnson said.
