Look for a few more lumpy clouds towering against a blue sky today.
The Nocturnal Summer of 2015 continued last night with two waves of severe storms feeding off unstable air across northern Minnesota. Numerous severe weather reports including 3 inch diameter hail and 70 to 80 mph winds poured in as storms tore across the northland.
The storms put down hail cores and severe wind gusts in a swath across northwest and central Minnesota from Roseau and Warroad through Thief River Falls to the Brainerd Lakes area.
Storms faded closer to the metro as they ran out of gas an encountered a more stable air mass.

A weak upper air disturbance over the Dakotas swirls east today. That may be all it takes to spark a few strong storms. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Storm Prediction Center paints a marginal risk for severe storms over southern Minnesota this afternoon.
Don't hold your breath, but keep one eye open for a few pop up thunderstorms today. The weak stationary boundary lingers tonight, then a more consistent southerly flow develops. Both Friday and Saturday's air mass favors a good shot at 90 degrees for much of Minnesota.
Storms return with a Sunday's cold front, and welcome relief from humidity arrives Monday.
