Steve Martin will be honored in October by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
Martin, who plays the banjo, will receive the organization's distinguished achievement award for his contributions to bluegrass music.
After his rise to fame through stand-up comedy and movie roles, Martin has been focusing on music these days. He tours with a bluegrass band, the Steep Canyon Rangers, and has won five Grammy awards.
But it's not totally random: Back in the 1970s, Martin made the banjo an integral part of his comedy.
