An early end to the walleye season on Lake Mille Lacs may force lawmakers back to St Paul this August.
Gov. Mark Dayton said he might call a special session of the Legislature to discuss providing aid t0 resorts and businesses around the lake. Those businesses would take a hit to the bottom line if the season ends early as expected this year.
Recent surveys of walleye harvests showed the lake was within 3,000 pounds of reaching its annual limit set by the state.
MPR News' Cathy Wurzer spoke with Minnesota House Speaker Kurt Daudt about the possible special session.
