Today's Morning Edition music selection is "Tell 'em I'm Gone" from Cat Stevens, who left the music industry a few decades ago. Stevens, who had several gold and platinum albums in the 1960s and 70s, turns 67 years old today.
Stevens is best known for hits like "Peace Train" and "Morning Has Broken." In the late 1970s, he converted to Islam, quit the music business and changed his name to Yusuf Islam. Last year, he spoke about his spiritual journey. He said he wanted to live life and that he didn't feel he could do that and be a rock star at the same time.
In 2014, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and released a new album for the first time in decades.
