A fire damaged a house in Brooklyn Park early Monday morning.
Officials were called to the fire at about 1 a.m. at 105th Lane and Mississippi Circle N.
The house was most likely struck by lightning, which caused the fire, according to Deputy Chief Todd Seitz of the Brooklyn Park Fire Department.
The residents of the home were able to get out safely and are now staying with relatives. Their two cats were also unharmed.
The second level of the house was damaged, and the roof and attic were destroyed. Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
"(Lightning strikes) are more common than people think," Seitz said.
