Target Corp. announced a new round of layoffs at its headquarters Wednesday.

The company said that it would eliminate 140 positions, and that it will leave 50 open positions unfilled. The majority of the jobs were part of the company's Business Performance Optimization Center of Excellence.

The company said the positions eliminated were identified as redundant or what the company called "opportunities for greater efficiencies." Target has already eliminated nearly 2,400 Twin Cities headquarters jobs as part of CEO Brian Cornell's restructuring of the retailer.
