Minnesota health insurers want to raise premiums on individual plans by double-digits. Some want to raise rates by more than 50 percent.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, which has been the state's largest health insurer, proposed rate increases averaging 54 percent for nine individual plans.
Gov. Mark Dayton is calling the proposals "outrageous." The rate increases are only proposals for now and must be approved by state regulators before they can be finalized.
Jim Schowalter of the Minnesota Council of Health Plans joined MPR News' Tom Weber to give us the latest.
