Rain and thunder cover Red River Valley communities and northwest Minnesota today. More hazy sun and temps in the 80s hold firm in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota. The rain holds off until after midnight before sweeping through southern Minnesota overnight into Friday.
A few of the storms could reach severe limits over the Red River Valley today.
Another soaking rain looks probable for most Minnesota communities.
The maps show the frontal system pushing through Friday. One more Canadian high pressure cell noses south this weekend. This brings a pleasantly cool, mainly sunny, dry weekend for Minnesota.
The penetration of the weekend high looks a little less impressive. Saturday should be plenty cool with highs in the 60s. Temps likely approach 70 degrees again Sunday afternoon in the metro and points south.
We should string together four or five dry days starting Saturday through next Tuesday.
Warm start to June?
The longer range forecast hints at summery weather into early June. Here's NOAA's 16-day output. We look for trends here, not so much day to day specifics. A string of highs near 80 in early June?
