Gov. Mark Dayton and House Speaker Kurt Daudt are meeting Tuesday to start working out last-minute deals on several fronts.
Dayton has vetoed three major bills passed by lawmakers in the final hours of the legislative session last week. That means he will have to call a special session to avoid a partial state government shutdown July 1.
The omnibus agriculture, environment and natural resources bill is one of the three Dayton vetoed. That bill drew particular ire from environmentalists for its elimination of a citizens' board at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Dr. Dan Foley, who has been a member of the citizens' board for more than 30 years, about the role of the board.
