The Minnesota Senate voted Thursday to allow convicted felons to vote following release from prison, even if probation or parole is still active.
Felons would continue to be denied voting rights while incarcerated.
Supporters of the change have been working on this issue for years and will rally again at the Capitol on Wednesday, but the debate continues over whether to trust felons with the power of the vote.
Two state senators joined MPR News' Tom Weber to talk about the issue.
