About 100 members of Minnesota's Somali community rallied on the steps of the State Capitol Saturday in support of the families of six young men accused of trying to join ISIS in Syria.
Participants said they are angry because they believe the young men are not being treated as though they are innocent until proven guilty. Rally organizer Mohamud Noor also called for state leaders to step in and support the Somali community by helping to identify who may be radicalizing young people.
The crowd also heard from Ayan Farah, mother of two of the arrested men. She said the young men had never been in trouble with the law before, and pleaded for other young people to avoid the path that led to her sons' arrests.
