Today's Morning Edition music is from 60 years ago today, when Fats Domino released "Ain't That a Shame."

The song would reach the top of the pop charts, but not with Fats Domino. In the 1950s, the music business was still segregated, and singer Pat Boone built a career covering songs by black artists for a white audience.

Before recording this song, Boone suggested to his producer that they change the title to "Isn't That a Shame," but the idea was ultimately rejected.

Fats Domino later thanked Boone for drawing attention to his version of the song, which eventually also made it into the top ten.
