DHS head has ‘nothing to add’ on MOA terror threat

WASHINGTON - After warning potential shoppers at the Mall of America over the weekend to be "particularly careful" about visiting due to a terrorist threat, the top official at the Department of Homeland Security has clammed up.

"If anyone is planning to go to the Mall of America today, they've got to be particularly careful," said DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson said Sunday in an interview with CNN after a video released by Somali terror group Al-Shabab included the Mall of America on a list of targets it encouraged its followers to attack.

When asked about his comments at a briefing for reporters on Tuesday, Johnson said, "I have nothing to add to the statements that I made over the weekend."

Johnson's comments were later partially retracted on Sunday by another DHS official who said Johnson's comments did not mean shoppers should avoid the mall, one of the largest and busiest retail sites in the world. Subsequently, authorities said there was "no credible threat" of a plot against the mall, located in Bloomington.
