Less than a half-inch of snow overnight led to a slippery commute on Friday morning. Dozens of vehicle crashes and spin outs were reported, mostly in the metro area.
The State Patrol tallied 305 crashes with 21 non-life threatening injuries and 150 spin outs between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reported partially snow-covered roads on Friday morning in all but the southwestern corner of the state.
The agency urged drivers to proceed cautiously and allow more time for their commute due to the sometimes slippery road conditions. The westbound lanes of Interstate 94 were temporarily closed at about 5 a.m. after crashes in the Lowry Hill Tunnel.
The National Weather Service predicted a 80 percent chance of more snow on Friday, with flurries possible after midnight. The service said wind chills of 20 to 30 degrees below zero could be possible again throughout the weekend and into early next week.
