Southwest High School in Minneapolis will reopen Thursday following a bomb threat that closed the school Wednesday.

The Minneapolis Police Department did a sweep of the building Wednesday morning, and found no "unsafe material."

School officials say they'll help the police with the continuing investigation of the threat.

Principal Bill Smith notified the Southwest High School community Tuesday night about the closure. He said teachers are encouraging students to participate in discussions and complete work online during the closure.

All events, activities and practices scheduled Wednesday at Southwest High School are canceled.

District officials say the closure may have been an inconvenience for parents, but the decision was made with student safety in mind.
