The mother of a man accused of fatally shooting a police officer in West St. Paul is apologizing to the family of the slain officer.
Alice Fitch is the mother of Brian Fitch who is currently on trial in Stearns County. She is offering her sympathy to the family of Mendota Heights Officer Scott Patrick. He was shot and killed last July during a traffic stop.
Alice Fitch tells KSTP-TV she doesn't believe her son will get a fair trial because of extensive media coverage of the shooting and the subsequent manhunt for suspects.
Fitch says she has watched the dash cam video of the shooting and felt as though she had been shot by the bullets. She says it's a horrible feeling.
