The Minnesota Legislature typically passes a budget one year and a bonding bill for building projects the next.
But there is talk at the Capitol this session that lawmakers should pass both bills this year — so they can skip next year's session.
The ongoing renovation of the Capitol building is making it difficult to work, and things could be worse next year, when the Senate chamber will be closed for repairs.
One legislator who would like to skip next year's session is Republican Senate Minority Leader David Hann of Eden Prairie. MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with him.
