Today's Morning Edition music features the song "Hot Dawgit" — a track from Ramsey Lewis' 1974 album "Sun Goddess."
On that record, the jazz composer and pianist was looking to update the acoustic sound he was known for during the 1960s. He collaborated with members of Earth, Wind & Fire, including Philip Bailey. Bailey sang and played the conga on "Sun Goddess."
Now, Bailey is touring with Lewis. The pair will perform tonight and tomorrow night at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis.
