Today's Morning Edition music is from the Twin Cities-based band Patty and the Buttons with "Blues My Naughty Sweetie Gives To Me."
It's a track off their brand new CD "The Mercury Blues," which explores jazz in America before World War II.
The song was first performed by Esther Walker in 1919.
A CD release party is set for Saturday afternoon at the Historic Heights Theater in Columbia Heights, and is being billed as a Vaudeville Spectacular. In addition to the live music, silent film shorts featuring the character "Musty Suffer" will be shown. Audience members are encouraged to wear Prohibition-era attire.
The video below features the band performing "Si tu vois ma mere?" at Cafe Aster.
