Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau announced several changes to her department Wednesday night.
In a Facebook post, Harteau wrote that it's critical to hire the best, brightest and most diverse candidates possible.
She's adding a commander of operations and administration, who will help oversee recruitment and hiring. Eddie Frizzell, who unsuccessfully ran against Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek, moves to that new position.
Harteau is also adding a chief of staff, who will report directly to her. Stepping into that role is Precinct One inspector Medaria Arradondo. He has also served as Internal Affairs commander at the Minneapolis Police Department.
Harteau says most of the changes will be effective Jan. 11.
