Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to campaign for DFL Congressman Rick Nolan later this month.
According to several people with knowledge of the event, Biden will campaign with Nolan on Oct. 23. They say Biden is expected to be on Minnesota’s Iron Range with Nolan but that could change based on logistics.
Nolan is engaged in a fierce election battle with Republican Stewart Mills. The race has been getting plenty of national attention as the campaign arms for Democrats and Republicans are spending heavily to win the seat. Nolan is serving in his first term.
Nolan’s campaign could not confirm any details of the visit at this time.
Biden would be the latest national surrogate to campaign in Minnesota. Former President Bill Clinton held an event at the University of Minnesota on Friday for DFL Sen. Al Franken and DFL Governor Mark Dayton. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will campaign for Republican gubernatorial hopeful Jeff Johnson on Monday. Christie is also holding private fundraisers for Johnson and the Minnesota Republican Party.
