Multiple rain waves through Friday

Our well advertised fall storm has spawned rain wave No. 1 from Des Moines, Iowa, north into the Twin Cities and Duluth along the Interstate 35 corridor. Expect periods of rain today, and additional waves of rain tomorrow into Friday.

This system comes in pieces. A series of fronts, and two distinct low pressure waves will bring multiple rounds of showers. We may catch a break in rainfall tonight, before wave No. 2 rolls in Thursday.

The most likely rainfall scenario for the Twin Cities appears to fall in the  half-inch to 1 inch range by Friday.

Heavier rains with the system should favor western Wisconsin and Minnesota's Arrowhead, where 1 to 2-plus inches is likely.
