A Crookston man faces four counts of attempted murder after exchanging fire with a group of Polk County sheriff's deputies Thursday afternoon.
Members of the Polk County Sheriff's Department arrived at rural county residence at 1 p.m. responding to a 911 report of gunfire.
According to an investigation conducted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, deputies were talking to family members in the home on the 28400 block of 300th Street SW, when Michael Jon Perry, 23, began firing from inside.
As the deputies retreated for cover, Perry hit 44-year-old sheriff's Sgt. Brian Lundeen in the back and grazed 36-year-old sheriff's investigator Nathan Rasch. Both men were wearing Kevlar vests, and were uninjured.

Perry continued to fire as he walked out of the home. Nine officers returned fire as he got into a car and tried to flee.
When sheriff's deputies stopped Perry's car as it left the property, he surrendered. The BCA will send its finding to the Polk County Attorney's office for review.
Perry sustained a single gunshot wound. Emergency personnel transported him to Riverview Hospital in Crookston, where doctors treated him and released him into custody. He is being held at the Tri County Community Corrections facility and was scheduled to appear Friday afternoon in Polk County District Court.
Lundeen was treated at the same hospital and released. Rasch did not require treatment. No one inside the home was injured.
