A tornado broke down trees, shattered windows and lifted the roof off a barn in Benton County Sunday.
The funnel cloud touched down two to four miles west of Granite Falls, according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Tony Zaleski.
A trained spotter reported the funnel cloud to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. Several storm chasers also captured the funnel cloud and posted video to Youtube.
Reports of a funnel cloud near Gilman came in at roughly the same time, but so far there are no confirmed damages in that area.
Zaleski said the Granite Falls tornado was caused by a cold front moving through the region.
Later Monday a survey crew will visit the affected area to catalog damages and estimate the power of the tornado.
