Journalist Scott Stossel spoke at the 2014 Aspen Ideas Festival about his research, and his own experience, with mental illness and paralyzing anxiety.
Stossel, editor of The Atlantic, revealed his lifelong personal challenges in his best-selling book, "My Age of Anxiety: Fear, Hope, Dread and the Search for Peace of Mind."
But he says it didn't start out as an autobiography. He had always been interested in psychology, intellectual history, and the science of the brain.
