At Morning Edition music, we're marking the 

30 years since the release 'Purple Rain," by Prince

. In a new article on the website for our sister station The Current, Bobby Z, who played drums for Prince on the album, had some serious praise for the song "Purple Rain."

For today's Morning Edition music, let's mark 30 years since the release of what's widely considered one of the best albums of all time.  Minneapolis's own Prince and the Revolution released Purple Rain back in June 1984, and it went on to sell about 20 million copies.  In a new article on the website for our sister station The Current, Bobby Z, who played drums for Prince on the album, had some serious praise for the song Purple Rain.
