Walter Mondale on the role of the vice president

Rep. John Dingell, the Michigan Democrat who holds the record as the longest-serving U.S. House member in American history, will give a speech titled, "When Congress Worked" at a National Press Club luncheon on Friday June 27. Dingell announced he will retire at the end of his current term, having been a member of the U.S. House for 58 years, serving alongside 11 presidents. He voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act and wrote the Affordable Care Act, the Clean Air Act, the Endangered Species Act,  the Clean Drinking Water Act, and many others.
