Weekday commuters are riding the Green Line to work for the first time today. The 11-mile light rail line that connects Minneapolis and St. Paul launched over the weekend, offering free fares. Thousands of people tried out the new trains, but today it's for paying customers only.

Disclosure: Minnesota Public Radio and the Metropolitan Council are negotiating ways to reduce noise and vibrations from the newly built light rail line outside MPR headquarters under a contract agreed to in 2009.
