Minnesota:

Despite an improving economy more than a half million Minnesotans are on food stamps, more than double the number 10 years ago. (MPR News)

DFL U.S. Rep Rick Nolan formally kicked off his re-election effort in Minnesota's 8th District. The race for the 8th, once a DFL stronghold, is likely to be among the most hotly contested of Minnesota's eight congressional districts. (MPR News)

Democrats are still worried their supporters may not turn out in great numbers in the 8th on Election Day. (Star Tribune)

Two veteran campaigners are running for a state House seat left open by the retirement of a longtime Dakota County  GOP incumbent. (Pioneer Press)

The NFL didn't exactly call for packs of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed, but the league had dozens of other specific requests for cities bidding for the Super Bowl. (Star Tribune)

Washington:
