The season known as summer is finally here. In May.
No more wind chill. No more snowy weather babble from your local meteorologist. You can finally relax, think about the nearest beach and forget about your snow shovel.
A swirl of clouds and showers spins overhead today. Expect some scattered hit or miss rain showers and even a local downpour as the center of low pressure rotates slowly eastward. Then get set for more summer as temperatures push the mid-80s for the first time in eight months.
Where's the nearest beach?

Picture perfect holiday weekend?
Does it get any better than that? The warmest weekend in nearly eight months just in time for Memorial Day? What a great run of weather, worth noting. And celebrating.
75 degrees high temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Friday
80 degrees high temp at MSP Saturday (First 80 degree reading since Sept. 30)
79 Degrees high at MSP Sunday
82 degrees high at MSP Memorial Day
Here's how I and many other Minnesotans spent evenings this past weekend. I hope you found that special place to watch the sunset.
Stormy Monday and partially wet Tuesday
The mostly dry weekend finally gave way to some pop-up storms on Memorial Day. Here's a look at the radar swirl over Minnesota into this morning as the center of upper level low pressure spins overhead. Expect more of the same today, with pop up showers and even some downpours.
A band of 1 to 4 inches fell Monday in Minnesota from near Mille Lacs through St. Cloud to Paynesville and Glenwood. Here's a look at the late day thunderstorm that dropped some downpours on the west metro.
July preview this week
After today's scattered rain, expect a sunnier and warmer week ahead. You'll notice a drop in humidity tomorrow as dew points fall into the more comfy 50s, but temps will rise into the mid-80s.
July is here in late May.
Naturally.
