A bill that cuts taxes is headed to Gov. Dayton's desk.
The House passed it unanimously this afternoon, and the Senate followed with a 59-1 vote.
The bill cuts $103 million in taxes, primarily by providing property tax relief for homeowners, renters and farmers. It also provides state aid to cities.
Rep. Ann Lenczewski, DFL-Bloomington, stressed that it’s the second tax cut bill to pass this year.
“You all know that we together have already passed a tax ill this year that has been signed by the governor that gave our constituents middle class tax cuts and business relief. Now we are going to add property tax cuts to that list.”
The measure also provides state aid to help build the Lewis & Clark water pipeline in southwest Minnesota. And it allows cities and counties in the area to increase local taxes to help pay for the project.
