A 20-year-old Columbia Heights woman was hit by a vehicle and died early Thursday morning, according to a statement from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
Police were called at 1:55 a.m. to the scene at the 4400 block of University Ave. NE in Columbia Heights. The pedestrian was hit by a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old Fridley woman, according to the statement. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are withholding the name of the woman who died until family is notified. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, according to the statement.
The Columbia Heights Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Anoka County Sheriff's Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the accident.
