Storm updates: MPR Weather Live blog

Our late season storm is winding up and moving into Minnesota tonight. The storm is still on track with my thinking on overall storm snowfall totals. Get the latest snowfall forecast and storm reports as they happen on the MPR Weather Lab live blog here.

Here are some quick headlines.

  • Winter storm warnings in effect until 7 p.m. Friday for much of Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

  • Mixed precipitation changes to all snow tonight across Minnesota and the Twin Cities

  • Heavy snowfall of 1 to 2 inches per hour are likely at times overnight into Friday morning.

  • Thundersnow is possible overnight and Friday morning.

  • Friday morning rush hour looks rough. Snow covered roads, wind and moderate to heavy snow will make for difficult travel conditions.

  • I am expecting a range of 5 to 10 inches of snowfall in the Twin Cities by noon Friday.

  • As much as 6 to 12 inches of snow is likely to the north including St. Cloud, Hinckley, Duluth, the North Shore and northwest Wisconsin.

Here's the latest storm briefing from the Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service.

Stay safe out there!
