Nathan Schroeder, of Chisholm, Minn., heads out the starting line at the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, in Duluth, Minn., on Sunday January 26, 2014. Schroeder was the winner of this 400 mile race in 2013. He and his team will be heading to the Iditarod in Alaska after his completion of this race. The race is named for John Beargrease, a Chippewa Indian who delivered mail along the North Shore by dogsled in the late 1800s.
